भारत देशात कदाचित कोणी 'माय का लाल' जन्मालाच नाही आला. १० हजार वर्षाहून जुनी संस्कृती असलेल्या देशात फक्त हाताच्या बोटावर मोजण्या इतकेच नमुने आपल्या देशात जन्माला आले. आपले नशीब थोर कि त्यातील काही नमुने आपल्याच हयातीत बघायला मिळाले. ह्या देशात ज्याच्या त्याच्या तोंडी फक्त त्यांचेच नाव आहे. ते इतके देशभक्त होते आणि त्यांनी देशासाठी इतके करून ठेवले आहे (चांगले कि वाईट ते तुम्हीच ठरवा) कि त्यांची आठवण सदा भारतवासियांना राहावी म्हणून आपल्या देशात कित्येक रस्ते, गल्ली, पूल, फ्लायओव्हर, नगर, शहर, विमानतळ, मैदाने, सरकारी योजना, सरकारी बक्षिसे, सरकारी शाळा, कॉलेजेस, संस्था, वस्तू संग्रहालये सगळ्या गोष्टीना ह्यांची नावे दिली आहेत. त्यांच्या हातात असते तर ह्या देशाच नाव पण त्यांनी बदलले असते. पण काही लोकांच्या भीतीने ते अजून झालेले नाही आहे.
हे महान देशभक्त म्हणजे राजीव गांधी, इंदिरा गांधी, पंडित जवाहरलाल नेहरू, संजय गांधी वगैरे गांधी कुटुंब. ह्या लोकांनी देशासाठी भयंकर त्याग केले आहेत. त्यामुळे ह्या लोकांना काँग्रेस सरकारने डोक्यावर नेऊन ठेवले आहे. आज देशात कुठलीही नवीन योजना चालू करायची असेल तर राजीव गांधी नाहीतर इंदिरा गांधीचे नाव सुचवले जाते. कुठलाही पूल, हायवे, कॉलेज, रस्ते काही काही असो फक्त ह्या लोकांचीच नावे ह्या काँग्रेसच्या मठ्ठ राजकारण्यांना सुचतात. ह्यात काँग्रेसेतर राजकारणीसुद्धा मागे नाहीत.
काही महिन्यापूर्वी तुम्हाला आठवत असेल, मुंबईतील बांद्रा वरळी सी-लिंक चे उद्घाटन करायचे होते. त्यावेळेला काँग्रेस सरकारने त्या पुलाला नाव द्यायला सुचवायला सांगितले. बाकी कोणाला सुचले कि नाही ते माहित नाही पण आपल्या राष्ट्रवादीच्या "साहेबांना" ते लगेच सुचले. त्यांनी सी-लिंकला राजीव गांधी सी-लिंक नाव द्यायला सांगितले. असे साहेब थप्पड खाणार नाहीतर काय करणार? निवडणुका आल्या कि ह्यांना मराठी माणूस आठवतो. पंतप्रधान मराठी व्हावा म्हणून राष्ट्रवादीला मतदान करायला सांगतात. मग अश्या वेळेला मराठी माणसाचे नाव सुचत नाही का तुम्हाला? राजीव गांधीने कधी त्या सी-लिंकचे काम बघितले तरी असेल का? हा प्रोजेक्ट नितीन गडकरीच्या कारकिर्दीत व युतीच्या काळात मान्यता मिळून चालू झालेला. जेव्हा पूर्ण झाला तेव्हा काँग्रेसचे सरकार म्हणून काँग्रेसने उद्घाटन केले आणि नावसुद्धा काँग्रेसच्या माणसाचे दिले? हा कुठला न्याय झाला. मला साहेबाना विचारायचे आहे, कि महाराष्ट्रातील... मुंबईतील.... समुद्रावर बांधलेला पुलाला एकही महाराष्टाच्या नेत्याचे, राजकारण्याचे, लेखकाचे, स्वातंत्र्य सैनिकांचे नाव देता आले नसते का? त्यांच्या इतके महान कार्य तुम्ही करू शकला नाहीत निदान त्यांच्या स्मरणार्थ तरी काही केले असते तर तुम्हाला आम्ही मानले असते.

जेव्हा समाजातील सर्व स्तरावरून ह्या गोष्टीची टीका झाली तेव्हा मग जरा जखमेवर मलम चोळायचे म्हणून ह्या राज्यकर्त्यांनी पुणे-मुंबई एक्स्प्रेस हायवे चे नामांतर केले आणि त्याला यशवंतराव चव्हाण द्रुतगती मार्ग असे नाव दिले. काय म्हणायचे ह्या षंढ लोकांना? अरे तो एक्स्प्रेस हायवे २००२ साली पूर्णपणे चालू झाला. ह्यांना २०१० साली आठवण झाली कि त्या हायवेला नाव दिले नाही आणि आता गांधीचे नाव दिले तर महाराष्ट्र भडकणार मग काय त्यांना कै. यशवंतराव चव्हाण आठवले. एका दगडात दोन पक्षी. मराठी माणूस आणि काँग्रेसचा पण माणूस.

पुणे-मुंबई हा भारतातला पहिला एक्स्प्रेस हायवे. ह्या एक्स्प्रेस हायवेची कल्पना भाजपच्या नितीन गडकरींची. त्यांच्या अखत्यारीत ह्या कल्पनेला चालना मिळाली. ह्याचे बजेट युती सरकारने पास केले. उद्घाटन करतंय कोण? नाव देताहेत कोणाचे? सगळीच अंधाधुंदी. आपली 'पब्लिक मेमरी' खूपच कमी असते. आपण अश्या घटना पुढची निवडणूक येई पर्यंत विसरून जातो. इथेच ह्यांचे फावते आणि वर्षोनवर्षे तेच तेच घडत राहते.
बँकेच्या परीक्षा देत असताना वेगवेगळ्या योजना अभ्यासक्रमात होत्या. तेव्हा बघितले तर बहुतेक योजना आणि संस्थाना गांधीचेच नाव. लक्षात ठेवायलाच जमत नव्हते. म्हटले काय प्रकार आहे. अश्या किती योजनांना नावे दिलीत. थोडे गुगलिंग केले आणि धक्काच बसला.
खाली गांधी कुटुंबियांच्या नावे असलेली यादी दिलेली आहे. ए. सूर्यप्रकाश नावाच्या एका पत्रकार-लेखकाने हि यादी बनवून निवडणूक आयोगाला तक्रार केली होती. त्यांच्या एसूर्यप्रकाश.कॉम साईट वर ती उपलब्ध आहे.

दादा लेख मस्त झाला आहे. पण माझ्या मते तरी ह्या सी लिंक ला शिवाजी महाराज म्हणा किंवा इतर थोर पुरुष म्हणा ह्यांची नाव देण्याआधी त्यांचे चारित्र्य समजून घेणे फार महत्वाचे आहे आणि तेच सरकारला अजून समजले नाही आहे. बघ ना विटी ला किती जन छत्रपती शिवाजी टर्मिनल म्हणतात सर्वच जन तर C.S.T असेच म्हणतात. आताच नाही का दादर ला चैत्य भूमी नाव देणे चालले होते सरकारला काय जातय ह्यांची नाव दद्यायला पण नंतर त्या वास्तूची नीट काळजी घेत नाहीत आणि मंग उगाचच त्या थोर पुरषांचा अपमान केल्या सारखा होतो.
ReplyDeleteथोर पुरुषांची नावे देण्यामागे एकाच हेतू असतो. की पुढच्या पिढीला त्यांनी केलेल्या कामाची आठवण राहावी.पण एकाच व्यक्तीचे नाव सर्व गोष्टीना देऊन बाकीच्यांवर अन्याय केल्यासारखे होते. नाव देण्यात वाईट काही नाही. राहिली वास्तूची काळजी ते तर आपल्यावर आणि सरकारवर अवलंबून असते.
